Hey, I'm Dawn, thanks for coming and checking me out. And thank you for coming this far and wanting to learn more about me. I want you to know I do things a bit differently. (My whole life I've always done things my own way :-) ) And that is why I've written this for you. I want you to you understand why I have things set up the way I do. I've done this all for you.
You see, success for me isn't just creating great hair. That's subjective. Success for me is seeing you love your hair! I want to get to know you and your vision. I want to make sure that your experience with me is a positive one, one that leaves you feeling great.
That is why I have created my 30 minute custom consultations for first time clients. It all comes down to communication. It's a big deal. Without it, we've got nothing. For me, communication is just as important, if not more, than the service itself. When you choose me to be your hairstylist you are investing in me. I want to make sure I take the time to sit down with you face to face and get to know you before touching your hair.
Giving you great hair is about so much more than just your hair. My salon is a sacred space, a space for you to be heard and validated beyond your hair. That's why I created my consultation process. To ensure we are not only hearing each other, but we are understanding each other. That we are connecting. I want you understand my process and approach and why I give the suggestions I do, and for you to feel comfortable to voice what you are thinking. I want you to feel relaxed and comfortable with how we will move forward. Those 30 minutes allow me to give you my focused time and attention. Time to understand who you are and how you communicate. It's important to me that this communication part is done right, that's why I take so much more than your hair into consideration. Doing this gives me a clearer look into who you are, what you are about and what you are wanting, or not wanting for that matter. It allows me to customize your hair directly for you.
You may have noticed that my first time appointments take a bit more time, and also cost a bit more. Let me explain why. In your first appointment, if you haven't already come in for a consultation, I have built in extra time to factor in whatever hair you may be walking in the door with. Many times some corrective or conversion work is required, which can be time consuming but key in giving you great hair. Also, that extra time is 'insurance' for your appointment. Because we will have just met that time allows me to interact with you more while doing your cut or colour. Once again, to make sure we stay on the same page with plenty of time to keep checking in. I am always happy to tweek, or trim a bit here or there to make it just right. I want to make sure my you are walking out from your appointment having had a great experience and feeling in love with your new hair .
You will also see in my services the option to book a consultation on its own. If you are feeling a bit nervous, or would like to meet first before committing to having me do your hair this is the perfect option. This also has the possibility of saving you some money. Once I meet with you, see your hair and hear what you are wanting to achieve I can properly assess your hair and create a plan where I can guide you to what appointment you will need to book.
I hope this has helped you understand a bit more about me and why I have things set up the way I do. After many years of rushing consultations and trying to understand my clients needs in 3 minutes or less I have found what works best for me and my clients is true connection and communication.
