it doesn’t matter how skilled and talented you are if you’re not able to run your business

Let’s be honest, it’s scary to take a risk. It’s even scarier to take a risk on ourselves. Taking a big leap out of our comfort zones is never easy, but it’s essential for success. If you’ve been too scared to invest in yourself then you’re going to want to keep reading.

After this post, you’ll walk away knowing how to:

  • Get comfortable with being uncomfortable

  • Leap before you know where to land

  • Confidently invest in yourself

Get ready to feel more comfortable and discover how investing in yourself is the key to creating the life, business, and bank account of your dreams.

Buckle up friend and let’s dive in…

Investing In Yourself is the Best Investment

While investing in yourself may be the best investment, it’s also really freaking scary to do and it takes a lot of practice to become comfortable with it.

Let’s be honest, it’s always gonna be a little uncomfortable to put all the bets on yourself. It’s a lot easier to play it safe and never take risks.

And while you’re comfortable and safe, there’s a part of you that wants more. Maybe your anxiety or fear have held you back and you’ve had thoughts like “I can’t” or “I won’t” or “I’m not capable”.

Fear can be an important motivation, so don’t let it turn you completely away from something. Sometimes fear can be a chance to look deeper into a situation.

What Does it Mean to Invest In Yourself

I know that you don’t always trust yourself. And the thought of investing in yourself is enough to give you the pit sweats. Maybe you’ve had ambitions and dreams, things that you’d like to implement into your life or your business, that have a little bit of risk involved.

And you start questioning yourself and doubting yourself:

  • Will I follow through?

  • Will I show up?

  • What if I fail?

Being so scared of the embarrassment that you hold yourself back and play small, for so long.

How do I know this? Because I’ve had those exact same thoughts before. Throughout the years’ people have said various things to me, and maybe not all of them were the nicest things, and I internalized them.

When someone told me that I was “lazy” and could never be successful I took that in and it became a part of my identity.

And we’ve taken these thoughts, comments or perceptions and we’ve let it define who we are. We’ve let a single moment of a couple moments define who we are and how we show up and what we do.

More often than not, we use those comments or perceptions to hold us back from investing in ourselves and taking risks. We believe that we’ll be a screw-up forever.

Why It’s Important to Invest in Yourself

Jodie had been a stylist for 15 years when she took the leap to step away from the chair and go full-time with her online business.

Before joining Rock Your Business, Jodie struggled most with boundaries and organization.

Even though she had mastered how to get her dream clients in her chair, she was having trouble saying “no” and sticking to her hours and maintaining systems in her business.

This has been an ongoing struggle for myself, if I’m being completely honest. The systems that seem to work for everyone else don’t work for me. I’ve had to create systems and plans in my life that work for me, and it’s taken some time to get to that place.

Let’s be honest, investing in yourself is really nerve-wracking. Jodie isn’t shy to admit that she was a little anxious to invest in herself.

Before Rock Your Business, she had only invested in marketing education. She had taken a few Instagram courses, some marketing theory classes, but had never invested in anything to help her put structure in her business.

It can be really hard to invest in your business when you work in an industry where technique and skill are so focused on. Don’t get me wrong, skill and technique are definitely important, but you need to invest in your business as well.

Because it doesn’t matter how skilled and talented you are if you’re not able to run your business.

Invest In Yourself First

Jodie didn’t believe that she was capable of achieving her dreams. (check out her last time on the podcast here)

She’d had big goals and ideas since before she finished school and Rock Your Business gave her the confidence that she needed to step away from behind the chair and go into her education business full-time.

For Jodie, building that confidence was the biggest impact Rock Your Business had on her.

It allowed her to get connected with her purpose for the first time in her journey. Since then, investing in her business isn’t scary anymore, but actually something she gets excited about. She sees the rewards every single time she invests in something to help and better herself and her business.

How to Invest in Yourself

Jodie now looks at purchasing education or working with coaches as an investment into accountability. She admits that those investments can help you fast-track your success because you don’t have to worry about figuring it out all by yourself.

Now I want to caution you to be careful about who and what you invest in.

Simply investing isn’t necessarily going to work. There are lots of good investments out there that won’t be the right fit for you.

It’s important to be cautious because marketing is a wonderful tool that can be misused. On the other hand, we can often convince ourselves that we need something that we don’t actually need.

I also recommend only learning from one or two people at a time to avoid overwhelm or conflicting information. Remember, there are many roads to the same place.

So how are you supposed to know what to invest in and what will help you? That’s a great question and I totally understand how it can seem overwhelming.

You want to look at people who are like you and who you relate to, people who have been where you’ve been, had the same struggles and gotten past them.

If you can’t relate to someone or they haven’t experienced the same struggle that you have, even if they have incredible insight, it might not be applicable for you, or how your brain works, or how you like to navigate things. It might even cause you more stress and anxiety.

Rock Your Business was designed for the anxious individual. For the person who wants to stress less, take more off their plate, reduce their overwhelm, and have a simplified version that creates more revenue, and more satisfaction. Rock Your Business is designed to help you create the life, business, and bank accounts of your dreams.

I asked Jodie if she’d invest in Rock Your Business again and she answered with an enthusiastic “YES”.

For Jodie, RYB has been the catalyst for so many amazing things that have happened in your life.

If you’re on the fence about joining, Jodie says that if you implement what you’ve learned in this program, it would be almost impossible not to make your investment back. The knowledge that you’ll gain inside this program is going to help skyrocket your business and build a sustainable base that you’ll have for years to come.

Rock Your Business students are making their return on investment and then some. Which I think is pretty freaking amazing.
