“I could totally do that.”
It was a naive sentiment I made when I saw the shiny finish of someone’s years of labor.
Little did I know the amount of work that actually goes into creating the shiny, everything-is-perfect exterior that I so ignorantly thought I could achieve with little to no effort.
There’s so much discipline involved and it takes a LOOOONNNNGG time before the “FUN” starts. (Even then, the fun is often hiding behind a long list of painstakingly monotonous tasks).

Are you ready for part 2 of The Anxious Creative Makes Waves?
If you haven’t checked out part 1 yet, you should pop over and check it out! Lindsay and I talked all about boundaries.
Part 2 is all about worth and I’m so lucky to be hanging out with the Queen of Worth herself, Lindsay Mayuga. (She’s seriously so freakin’ awesome.)
Listen in to hear me do my best intro song to date (this is not a debatable statement btws).
“What if she can’t afford it?”
“What if she tells me I’m too expensive?”
“What if she goes somewhere else?”
“What if… what if… what if…?”
I know your fears, and they’re legitimate.
I’ve been there too.
You’re scared that…
Hold onto your seats cause I’ve got a fun series coming atcha!
I’ve teamed up with Lindsay Mayuga from the She Makes Waves Podcast for a 5 part series. Yup, you heard that right, over the next 5 weeks Lindsay and I are going to be chatting about business, life, being anxious creatives, and so much more.
I’m so excited to be bringing you Part 1 – it’s all about boundaries. (One of my all-time favourite topics, as you know.)
When I say I was shy as a kid, I’m not just talking about hiding behind my mom’s leg when a stranger approached, I’m talking about being so shy that I would make my mom call my friend’s houses to see if they could come play. Don’t even get me started on oral projects for school…
I was honestly terrified to speak to other people.
Even as I got older, I would get anxious just calling to order some pizza (can we take a moment to recognize how awesome skipthedishes is for anxious people??).
Speaking anxiety was a real thing.
Palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy…
No, it’s not Eminem rapping, it’s a panic attack. YIKES.
I’ve been there, and I know you’ve probably been there too, the overwhelming anxiety that consumes your whole body and has you snowballing down a hill straight into sheer panic.
You might not know (but you may be able to venture a guess) that I’ve struggled with anxiety for most of my life. For about the first 30 years of my life, I had no idea what anxiety even was (let alone the panic attacks that started happening!). I honestly thought I was just a weird, quirky, awkward person who felt strange in certain situations (you too??).
